Many folks call it the Port Manatee jail, because the Central Jail sits off the Port Manatee exit on US 41 north of Palmetto, and both names point to the same building on Harlee Road. Visitation
Visitation is non-contact video at the Sheriff’s Visitation Center, 2705 County Line Road, Palmetto, daily from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visits are booked online through JailATM.com, from seven days out until 11:59 p.m. the night before, and each inmate can have up to six 30-minute visits a week, no more than two a day. Remote video visits from home are also available for a fee. The rules change, so confirm on the Sheriff’s site before you go.
Posting bond
Bond runs through the jail: the full amount in approved funds, returned at the end of the case, or a licensed bondsman’s nonrefundable percentage. Custody and bond amounts show in the Sheriff’s lookup once booking finishes.
At the Manatee Central Jail, bond is paid in the jail lobby. The front desk is open 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and cash bonds are accepted 24 hours a day. Payment is cash, a cashier’s check, or a money order made out to the Manatee County Clerk of Circuit Court, with the booking number written on it, and refunds come back through the Clerk.
Money, phone calls, and mail
Money for an inmate’s account can go in online at smartdeposit.com (the facility code is PLC# 5500), by phone at 1-866-394-0490, at the kiosk in the Visitation Center, or by money order made out to “MCSO Inmate Account” and mailed to the jail. Phone accounts run through IC Solutions.
Mail changed on July 1, 2026. Personal mail is now postcards only, addressed to JailATM.com, Manatee County Jail, the inmate’s name and ID number, P.O. Box 16120, Jonesboro, AR 72401. Personal mail sent straight to the jail is returned. Legal mail still goes to the jail.
The clock that is already running
Bond is only the first decision. Florida law requires a first appearance before a judge within 24 hours of arrest, where release conditions get set or argued. If the arrest was on a warrant, the warrant itself may be attackable, and if the arrest was for DUI, a separate ten day deadline to save the driver license starts the night of the arrest.
