Coming Soon
The Safir Brothers Lawcast is on the way. It is a show about the part of law that does not make it into the brief: the trials, the war stories, and the nitty-gritty of trying cases and running a practice.
What to expect
Candid conversations about real cases: what worked at trial, what did not, how a cross-examination comes together, and what the books never teach you about the job. Often the brothers bring on a third lawyer to talk shop, compare notes, and trade the kind of stories that only people who have stood in a courtroom can tell.
Your hosts
Rory Safir
DUI, criminal defense, and personal injury attorney in St. Petersburg, Florida, and one of only six ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientists in the state. He started out as a public defender in Tampa and now takes the science-heavy cases apart the way the State’s own analysts do, from the breath machine to the blood draw. He is NHTSA-qualified to teach the same field sobriety battery the arresting officer was trained on, and serves on National College for DUI Defense task forces on alcohol and drug testing devices and on trial advocacy. He has written five books: four in plain English and free to the Floridians who need them, and The Florida DUI Trial Manual, the working reference he wrote for the criminal defense bar.
Gary Safir
Personal injury trial lawyer based in Detroit, and Rory’s brother. He is licensed in Michigan, Ohio, and federal court and has been trying cases since 2013, handling motorcycle, auto, and pedestrian collisions and Michigan No-Fault claims. He began his career on the other side, defending insurance companies, which is a large part of why he is good at taking them apart now. He is AV Preeminent rated and has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year since 2019, and he is currently litigating a constitutional challenge to Michigan’s bar on non-economic recovery for uninsured drivers. He has spoken to other lawyers on winning opening statements, and he is a big part of why Rory took up injury work alongside his criminal defense.
